ILIGAN City ― There were some screenings on the plaza for eye cataracts especially on senior citizens morning of Monday, August 28.
City councilor Providencio Abragan, Jr., chair of the Sangguniang Panlungsod on the Committee on Senior Citizens said yesterday that the schedule for such activities is 7:OO in the morning up to noon only. This project, he said is in partnership with Sen. Koko Pimentel and it was only to accommodate 300 senior citizens.
But the turnout, he said, was "massive" and there were even those who came over to said site in early dawn. And instead of ending at noon, he said, they had to end at 5:00 in the afternoon.
There were more than 300 of them who came over. There were around 400, he said. So those who were now more than 300 were listed and given "priority" should another schedule of activity of this sort be made.
He then narrated a case of one senior citizen whose concern was more than a cataract as the eyes didn't have any "lens" anymore that round thing inside the eyes. He said that maybe that kind of concern could be attended to by another hospital, say at a hospital in Marawi City.
The actual treatment or operations of those who have been screened, he said will be scheduled soon.
He was thankful then to the media, the mainstream ones, and even those on social media and even concerned citizens for the help they contributed to the success of such activity.
