DIGOS City ― Police personnel in Bansalan, Davao del Sur quickly arrested a man who stabbed and mauled his drinking buddy yesterday afternoon.
P/Captain Orlando Udalve, Bansalan OIC police chief identified the suspect as Niño Atopan Sumalinog, 25, a resident of Purok Panaghiusa, Barangay Tubod, Bansalan, Davao del Sur.
The victim, Exzal Espacio Carpentero, 22, caretaker and a resident of Cosmos Street, Poblacion Dos, Bansalan, Davao del Sur managed to flee from the scene of the incident and went to the police station thereby alerting the cops.
Carpentero sustained a stab wound at the right upper and lower portion of his eye from a kitchen knife used by the suspect who also allegedly mauled the victim.
Investigators learned Carpentero and Sumalinog were on a drinking spree at Purok Pakigdait, Poblacion Dos in Bansalan at about 4 pm on Sunday when the mauling and stabbing occurred.
Responding policemen immediately placed Sumalinog under arrest, while Carpentero was brought to Mabama Hospital in Bansalan for medical attention.
