A 33-year-old top-six most wanted person was arrested by authorities twice for rape and statutory rape on January 8 and 10.
Bukidnon Police Provincial Director John Mark Lagare identified the suspect as Randy Maglasang, residing at Zone 15, Barangay Conception, Valencia City.
The first arrest happened while the suspect was in a house located at Zone 13 of the said barangay.
Authorities were armed with an alias warrant of arrest for rape issued by Judge Anna Marie Militante of the Regional Trial Court, 7th Judicial Region, Branch 53, Lapu-Lapu, Cebu City when they approached the suspect.
The Judge recommended a P80,000 bail bond for the suspect’s supposed temporary freedom.
But before Maglasang produced the said amount, another warrant of arrest was issued to him by arresting personnel from Valencia City Police Station.
Arresting officers assigned at Valencia City Police Office led by Police Col. John Ray Barazan informed the suspect that he was charged with statutory rape. This was while he was still behind bars at Valencia City Police custodial facility.
Statutory rape is the crime of sex with a minor when the sex is agreed to by both parties and not forced. The reason why it is considered rape is that the minor is considered to be too young to legally consent to have sex.
The warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Isobel Barroso of the Regional Trial Court-10, Branch 8, Malaybalay City.
Barroso recommended him no bail bond for his temporary liberty.
