ILIGAN City ― There were more seats placed on the stage than the occupants as there were only 13 candidates who showed up at a forum on the coming May 9 Elections, out of the 49 politicians who file their certificates of candidacy yesterday afternoon.
This was for those who filed for the posts of city councilors coming from different teams, even as there were independents, too. This was held at the city public plaza at Barangay Poblacion.
A joint undertaking of the Commission on Elections, the Department of Education, the Philippine National Police, the Department of Interior and Local Government, the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting, most of those who were there as the audience were supporters of the candidates on stage.
However, the “red” team under City Mayor Celso Regencia and the “blue” team of Congressman Frederick Siao were conspicuously absent.
Only the team led by lawyer Leo Zaragoza was there in full force, complete with uniforms bearing multi-colored designs. Some members of mayoral candidate Rudolf Charles ‘Tata’ Tamula were also present at the event.
Most of those who were asked about their candidacies or their platforms of governance fared well with their supporters in uniforms giving their “approval” of their candidates by vigorously clapping their hands.
