A majority of Filipinos (69%) support the renewal of ABS-CBN’s broadcast franchise, according to a February 2025 national survey by independent research firm WR Numero.

Meanwhile, 10% oppose the renewal, and 21% remain undecided.

The Philippine Public Opinion Monitor survey gauged public sentiment on a proposed bill in Congress seeking to grant ABS-CBN a new franchise.

The non-commissioned survey was conducted from Feb. 10 to 18, shortly after a House panel hearing on the matter.

Support for the network’s renewal was highest in Metro Manila (79%), followed by the Visayas (73%), Mindanao (69%), and Luzon outside the capital (65%). Opposition remained low across regions, peaking at 12% in Luzon.

Across age groups, support was strongest among Filipinos aged 31 to 59 (72%), followed by those 60 and older (70%) and those 30 and below (66%).

Disapproval remained minimal, with 10% of younger respondents and those aged 31 to 59 opposing the renewal.

Backing for ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal was consistent across income classes, with 71% of Class ABC, 70% of Class D, and 69% of Class E respondents expressing support. Political alignment also played little role in approval, as 79% of administration-aligned Filipinos, 77% of opposition supporters, and 74% of independents favored renewal.

The survey, conducted through face-to-face interviews, sampled 1,814 Filipinos aged 18 and older. It has a ±2% margin of error at a 95% confidence level nationwide.

A full report, including survey findings on the 2025 general elections and the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte, will be released in March.
