THE Eyesore Tower is about to be made operational. In a few days, antennae may already be mounted. If this were a passive telecommunication tower infrastructure (PTTI), I’d expect not only one but a few dishes will be staring at my home 24/7.
By then, I will have to say goodbye to my singing friends whose chirps, tweets, and concertos I’ll miss whenever I sip my early morning coffee in my home office.
Birds are sensitive to radiofrequency radiation that telco antennae emit. As I have written in earlier material, radiofrequency waves destroy the earth’s magnetic field which the birds utilize for their navigation. While short-time exposure to electromagnetic fields causes them to be disoriented and fly in different directions, millions of birds die every year due to the harmful radiation from cell towers.
One pro-tower, and probably those who agree with government regulations depriving homeowners of their right to be heard whenever PTTIs are erected in their area, said that since the government has allowed these towers in residential areas, it means the RFRs are safe to humans.
My reply ― it’s because this government does not give a @#$% what happens to the citizens. Killing innocent civilians in the guise of the failed drug war is an example. Besides, has the government categorically said there is conclusive evidence that RFRs emitted by PTTIs are not harmful to humans?
The claim has always been “there is no conclusive evidence that RFR is harmful to humans.” For convenience and easy way out, the latter statement probably is resorted to.
For whatever life I still got in me, I will never learn to greet that Eyesore Tower with a smile. Not primarily because of the RF radiation but because of indifference to how the entire neighborhood failed to be heard when this eyesore and threat to the fauna was brought in like a thief in the night.
