BIG-time basketball is set to enliven Cagayan de Oro as a Christmas treat for the local hoop fans.
This, as the Mindanao Finals of the National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) tournament, is set to be slated here on December 19-22 in two playing venues.
“There are many qualifiers across Region 10 and some parts of Mindanao so, we will be maximizing the barangay Gusa gym and Corpus Christi gym in Macasandig as our venues,” local NBTC organizer Arvin Martinez told Gold Star Daily.
Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy and Cagayan de Oro City have welcomed NBTC Regional finalist teams from Davao City, Davao Oriental, Butuan City, Surigao City, Bayugan City, Province of Bukidnon, Malaybalay City, Iligan City, El Salvador City, Marawi City-Lanao del Sur, Misamis Occidental, Municipality of Kapatagan, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Municipality of Balingasag-Basoy Petroleum in this keenly-awaited event.
Hosts Cagayan de Oro City MLT Gamba and Cagayan de Oro City Sacred Heart Of Jesus Montessori School ‘Saints’ are expected to give the visiting teams a run for the podium’s top finish.
“Dire nato makita ang mga potential players from Mindanao nga puhon atong gi-expect nga ma PBA,” Martinez said.
