CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy, in his Klarex nga Serbisyo program today, Nov. 22, in Barangay Indahag assured the public that the local government doesn’t have any ghost projects and has no financial obligations to Nurben Engineering.
“Walay utang ang dakbayan sa contractor, gibyaan lang sa contractor,” Uy said.
This clarification addressed the allegations made by Nurben Engineering that they were not paid, which they cited as the reason they backed out from the P65 million Mega Health Center project in Macanhan, Carmen.
Despite the controversy, Mayor Uy assured residents that the city they will continue the project.
“Mao nang gi terminate nato ang kontrata sa maong kontraktor kay gusto nako mapahimuslan ug magamit gyud sa katawhan sigon sa plano ug tingoha sa lokal nga pangagamhanan,” Uy said.
For those who wish to clarify the issues, Mayor Uy said the City Finance Office is open to present the real status of the project.
Under the Local Government Code of the Philippines (RA 7160), The financial office primarily in charge of the funds and their actual release in a city government is the Office of the City Treasurer [77(c), 78(e), 383(3)].
“Katungod na sa katawhan kung susihon nila unsa na nga proyekto,” Uy said.
He added he is willing to resign if it is proven that the city has ghost projects.
“Usbon ko kon dunay ghost project sa lokal nga panggamhanan dili nako kinahanglan nga pangutan-on or susihon muhawa ko sa akong katungdanan kay wala koy nawong ikaatubang sa katawhan kung naghatag ko’g ghost project, akong gi ampingan ang tanan,” the mayor said.
