
IN a recent activity held by the Kiwanis Club of Northern CDO Elite, five remarkable graduates from schools in Cagayan de Oro (CDO) and Bukidnon were recognized for their achievements in the 2024 school year.
Led by its club president Kiwanian Eric Daabay said that these exceptional students, known as the 'Batang Wais,' were selected based on specific criteria set by the Kiwanis Club.
The criteria for the prestigious Kiwanis Award for "Batang Wais" included demonstrating resourcefulness in overcoming life's challenges, maintaining a grade not lower than 90, having no more than five absences throughout the school year, active participation in both academic and extracurricular activities, and fostering positive relationships with peers and teachers.
As a token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication, according to Daabay, the recipients of the Kiwanis Award received a special medal to commemorate their achievement, a Kiwanis bag as a symbol of recognition, and a valuable P35,000 insurance coverage for one year, offering protection in case of accidents or unforeseen events.
The deserving recipients of the Kiwanis Award for "Batang Wais" represented a diverse group of talented and diligent graduates from five different schools in CDO and Bukidnon.
Each of these students not only excelled academically but also demonstrated a strong commitment to personal growth and community involvement.
"The Kiwanis Club's initiative to honor these exceptional graduates underscores their commitment to fostering education, leadership, and community service among young individuals in the region," said Daabay.
"By highlighting the achievements of the "Batang Wais," the Kiwanis Club aims to inspire other students to strive for excellence and contribute positively to their schools and communities," said Daabay who also recently elected as Kiwanis Division 4-A Lt. governor-elect.
Awardees of the Kiwanis Award for Batang Wais include the following individuals: From Kauswagan Central School are Sean Eras T. Cahoy, Chris Vaughn Buro and Empress Chloe Ulgasan.
From Consolacion Central School graduates are Leah Mae P. Romero, Blessy Jade Opog, Chanelle Faith E. Enad and Princess Sane G. Sumalino
From Lapok Elementary School in Talakag, Bukidnon: Wingel Rose Faith C. Adolfo, Daisyree Anne B. Sabella, Bevie Grace D. Oba-an, Geraldine Ingrid T. Heraud and KC Jay I. Talino.
Other recipients of the Kiwanis Batang Wais award from PN Roa Elementary School are Ashley S. Esrote, Denice M. Balino, Geneveive L. Carbonera. and Kim Abella.
Daabay said that the ceremony celebrating the accomplishments of the "Batang Wais" serves as a reminder of the importance of perseverance, determination, and dedication in achieving one's goals.
Daabay said the Kiwanis Club of Northern CDO Elite continues to support and empower the youth in CDO and Bukidnon, encouraging them to excel academically and socially and become future leaders in society.
As these outstanding graduates embark on new journeys, the "Kiwanis Club and the community stand behind them," said club president-elect Ma. Jufenny M. Aguillon, adding that offering guidance, support, and opportunities for further growth and success.
Aguillon said the Kiwanis Award for "Batang Wais" not only acknowledges past achievements but also symbolizes the bright futures that lie ahead for these talented and promising young individuals.
