A mother is seeking justice after her nine-year-old son was allegedly tortured by bullies in Iligan City, leaving him in critical condition.
Ginalyn Incipido, 38, is by her son’s side at a local hospital, whispering to him, “Laban dong, para makauli nata.”
Last Monday, August 4, he was beaten up. He was about to go home for lunch when he was ambushed. He was beaten and couldn’t run away. It’s not yet confirmed if there were five or just two who beat him. Allegedly, the bullies are high school students of a local school.
Ensipido said her son, a third-grader at Maria Christina Falls Elementary School, is now awake but unable to speak. He remains on tubes to assist with breathing and eating.
She added that she doesn’t know how long they will be in the hospital.
“Lisod pud, in ani na lang lugar,” Ensipido said when asked about her resolve to pursue justice.
The family’s income comes from selling copras, or dried coconut meat, and Incipido said she never imagined they would face such a situation.
A teacher from her son’s school has visited and offered support in their pursuit of justice.
Ensipido said she is alone at the hospital and is accepting financial or in-kind donations to help them during this difficult time.
