ILIGAN City ― The Sangguniang Panlungsod here will conduct an investigation on October 17 on the alleged mining operations in Rogongon, a hinterland barangay of the city.
This was revealed by city councilor Betsy Maria Zalsos, chair of the SP Committee on Laws, to reporters yesterday.
This will be attended by city and barangay officials, especially officials in said barangay, the stakeholders like residents there and city folks, officials of the Mines and Geoscience Bureau under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and other concerned citizens.
The venue will be the SP session hall at Buhanginan Hills at city hall, barangay Palao, this city.
Earlier, Zalsos, who is a lawyer and a Certified Public Accountant by profession, said that she had gone to the said area, and although she said there were no mining activities that she could see going on yet, some residents told her that there were vehicles seen going about with some heavy equipment that were also seen in the area.
