ILIGAN City ― In a special session Thursday, the city council gave Mayor Celso Regencia the authority to buy dump and garbage trucks worth P50 million.
Earlier, the mayor directed the city council to hold a special session for the purpose “within twenty-four hours.”
Ten councilors voted yes to the resolution while two voted no.
Councilor Queenie Belmonte, one of the two councilors who voted no, said the city council should have waited for the regular session next week as it would create the impression on the people in the face of the Covid-19 crisis the city and the rest of the country are currently facing.
It was learned that the purchase has a Special Allotment Release Order already as this transaction was approved by the Department of Budget and Management last year.
