HUNDREDS of runners gathered to celebrate former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s 80th birthday with a series of races in the city.
The first events, held on March 21 and 23, featured an 80-kilometer ultra-marathon along with five-kilometer and three-kilometer fun runs, drawing about 800 participants.
The races kicked off with a lively Zumba warm-up led by Vincent Baconguis and Wilson Fuentes.

The celebrations will continue with the ‘2nd Tatay Digong Birthday Run’ on March 28, featuring another 80-kilometer ultra-marathon and additional distances of 16 km, 20 km, and 40 km. Participants are encouraged to bring their own water and supplies.
The event will conclude with performances by the Kagay-an Community Chamber Choir and other local artists at 4 pm on March 28 at Macasandig Boulevard.
With the theme “Run Strong, Run United, Run with Pride,” organizers highlight resilience, teamwork, and Duterte’s lasting influence. Runners of all levels demonstrated discipline and unity throughout the celebration.
