Gingoog City - Gtown basketball Club defeated a hard fighting Bankers Basketball team 60-53 to claim the championship trophy in the Siglakas basketball Open Category on Wednesday, March 4 at the Arturo Lugod Gym.
Led by point guard Jessie Bustillo, Gtown slowly getting its groove in the 4th quarter and stamped its basketball experience into the hapless Bankers team.
Though the Bankers rally, it did not recover a 7-3 run in the last 2 minutes of the game. The championship game is a closed battle in the first 3 quarters and in the deciding 4th quarter the Gtown imposed its physical game plan. Meanwhile, in the first game, BTM basketball team lambasted team Desmark in a come from behind win to claim the 2nd Runner up honors. It was a disappointing loss of Desmark as it leads 10 points in the 1st quarter but BTM slowly cemented its defense and convert into great offense.
Sixteen teams were bracketed in 4 groups in a single round elimination. Top 2 in each group advances in the quarters until the strongest teams got the top 4 for the semis and finals slots.
