DIGOS City ― A grilled chicken operator in Magsaysay, Davao del Sur died on the spot after he was hacked by one of three suspects at dawn on Monday.
Captain Rodrigo Dumangas, Jr., Magsaysay OIC police chief identified the victim as Rollie Bruno Mansilagan, 22, a resident of Purok-8, Barangay Dalawinon of the said town.
Witnesses told police investigators, Mansilagan was having a conversation with a friend when a motorcycle with three riders on board suddenly stopped just a few meters from them wherein one of the back-rider armed with a bolo alighted and hacked the victim to the neck, got back to their vehicle and fled.
Responding policemen immediately called on the officials and civilian volunteers of neighboring villages to establish a roadblock in an effort to catch the fleeing attackers.
Just minutes, later, civilian volunteers of Barangay Kasuga in Magsaysay called the police after flagging a motorcycle with three persons onboard that fits with the description of the culprits.
When police arrived at the area a certain Jerome Jakosalem Juario, 21, a laborer, and a resident of Barangay Kasuga in Magsaysay was positively identified by the witness who came along with the police.
Juario told police the motive was a personal grudge against the victim.
Meanwhile, the driver of the motorcycle was named Denis Molion Tecson, 23, a construction worker; while the other back-rider was Renel John Estrada, 23, another construction worker, and a resident of Purok-1, Barangay New Clarin, Bansalan, Davao del Sur.
All of them were placed under arrest and brought to Magsaysay police station for further investigation and documentation for filing of appropriate charges against them in court.
