GINGOOG City recorded its first Covid-19 - a 59-year-old male who died at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) in Cagayan de Oro over the weekend.
Dr Agnes Centino, assistant city health officer and head of Gingoog's Covid-19 Task Force, said the man was from Barangay 18-A Gingoog. He was the second person with Covid-19 to die in Misamis Oriental.
Gingoog Mayor Erick Cañosa ordered the mandatory and strict implementation of the rule on face shields and face masks in Gingoog's establishments.
The man brought to 52 the number of Covid-19 cases in Gingoog since June. Of the 52, 33 traveled fron other places in the country and 10 returned from abroad. Eight of the cases were local transmissions.
The man's daughter said her father was first brought to Gingoog's Misamis Oriental Provincial Hospital at around 9 pm of Sept. 11. He was then moved to the NMMC due to a heart problem. He died the following day - results showed he was Covid-19 positive.
She and other members of the family were taken to isolation facilities in Gingoog while the dead patient was buried at a public cemetery on Sunday. (PR)
