Gingoog City — A rerouting has been implemented in this city prior to the partial implementation of Memorandum Circular 2020-036 of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) banning of tricycle, pedicab, and motorela plying along the national highway.
Col. Ariel Philip I. Pontillas, Gingoog City police director, introduced the rerouting and presented it during the Public Consultation and Briefing of the said DILG memorandum circular on Wednesday afternoon held at Arturo Lugod Gym which was attended by almost a thousand people from the transport sectors, students from different schools in the city and other civic organization including the local chapter of the Philippine Eagles and religious groups.
The rerouting scheme will allow motorelas, pedicabs, and tricycles to cross all junctions of the highway.
Drivers are also allowed to traverse at selected portions of the highway in the city, he added.
City Mayor Erick Cañosa impressed on the result of the consultation as it gave consideration to motorela, pedicab, and tricycle drivers to ply within the selected portions of the highway on certain times of the day called “Window Hours.”
The “Window Hours” is from 6:00 am to 8:00 am and 4:00 pm to 9:30 pm, Cañosa explained.
