The Gingoog City Council, led by City Vice Mayor Peter Unabia, has passed and approved a resolution adopting the proclamation order number 922 of President Rodrigo Duterte declaring the state of public health emergency throughout the country amid the novel coronavirus contagion.
This resolution, as a preventive measure, requires all business firms to place hand sanitizers and any kind of disinfectant at their store entrances to ensure customers are sanitized before entering the stores.
The business firms in the city are also required to a regular cleaning said Nicole Managbanag, city spokesperson.
“However, our city is far away from areas of the country where the virus is reported positively but it is still the best to be sure and take steps to prevent the infection of Covid-19,” said City Mayor Erick Cañosa.
Cañosa also instructed Dr. Grace Jadol, city health officer, to closely monitor all foreign vessels docked at the private piers of the two big companies in the city.
Cañosa also urged both private and public schools in the city to put sanitizers in their entrances and exits and even in their classrooms.
The public market, bus terminal, all barangay halls, and other barangay offices are also required to do the same.
Visitors, public officials, and city hall employees are subject to a temperature test and must also use a sanitizer before entering the city hall building, Cañosa said.
