SINCE I collect piggies, family and friends give me piggies. I now need a second piggery for them.
I’ll be happy receiving other items, too, such as Dove Pink Beauty Bar, S&R 80/20 ground beef, S&R beef short ribs, S&R or Monterey liempo, SeaKing salmon, Virginia Vienna Sausage, eggs, butter, and coconut cooking oil which are my constants.
But the trending item nowadays is Trader Joe’s canvas tote. I happen to collect tote bags so how timely then.
Its resale value in Pinas is way above its price in the US since there’s no Trader Joe’s here. The law of supply and demand applies.
I don’t know if there are fake ones being sold here, but here’s the reality if you want to be sure it’s original: get a US visa, go to the US, buy it from Trader Joe’s. All that hassle for a grocery bag.
Be practical if you have no plans yet of traveling to the US. Either don’t buy or buy from a friend.
Trader Joe’s is also known for its Speculoos Cookie Butter. Yum! But the carnivore diet allows only plain butter.
Yes, I’m finally carnivore now. My last carb intake was on February 1 care of the macadamias. Which were not as tasty as I remembered them to be. My taste buds have been changing. Even on my high-carb days in December and January, I’d always think that meat and fats are way much yummier — I was already convinced but I continued eating carbs. Tsk tsk.
It was the colds that began on January 31 that made me regret my high-carb intake. If only I could turn back the time. But I could still look forward to a carb-free life.
What I did have in the last week of January was a Facebook-free life that lasted for three days. My old phone went white-screen, for which that phone is known for but I was blissfully unaware of, prompting me to say, Talk of unlucky 13!
The repair shop had to reformat the phone. When I tried other gadgets to open Facebook, the reply was always for me to check out the notification in the old phone.
It took me three days to retrieve my Facebook and Messenger accounts, no thanks to two factor authentication whose aim is to protect both from hackers. I’m not a hacker. I’m the Facebook user. But I had to go through the eye of a needle to get my Facebook back.
My brother, upon learning that I couldn’t log in to Facebook, texted me this: “Maybe blessing in the skies. You will experience na dayon FB free life.”
The FB-free bro has an account so he can use Messenger. My other bro doesn’t even have a Facebook account. My nephew and niece-in-law use Facebook for their cafe and their rare personal posts. So, I’m the only one in the family who constantly uses Facebook.
How did my three-day Facebook-free life go? Oh. I was miserable. I had no access to Messenger so I texted family and friends that I’d communicate with them through SMS: “Tx tx lang sa ta.” And I couldn’t post my columns on Facebook.
I can take a vacation from Facebook only when I know that I can always go back anytime I want to. Wait, do I have the same attitude towards my diet? That I can go off carbs only when I know that I can always indulge in them if I want to? Hmmm.
