ILIGAN City ― A former city councilor here slammed city officials for using test kits “not approved” by the Food and Drug Administration.
Roy Openiano, a former city councilor, in a statement yesterday on-air, said that this is embodied in a report by the Commission on Audit for the year 2020 on page 60.
The test kits for Covid-19 are worth P16,827,253 adding that there are “several anomalous transactions” in connection with the city’s response to this pandemic.
He also cited the Social Amelioration Program which the city could not properly account, for in the amount of P800,664,000 which is embodied on page 87 of the same COA report.
There is also the P100 million which the city has budgeted for vaccines and which it could not account for as the vaccines used here come from the national government. Even as he cited also the Bayanihan grant amounting to P137 million for Covid-19 stated on page 55 of the same COA report.
Another one is for another Bayanihan grant amounting to P123 million found on page 93 of the said report, Openiano added.
There are still many others, he said. Along with several lawyers, Openiano said they will be filing cases against the city administration under City Mayor Celso G. Regencia.
To recall, Regencia said shortly after the “guilty” verdict from the Sandiganbayan 7th division for “usurpation of official functions” promulgated on February 11, said that he has “42” cases against him.
