ILIGAN City ― Former City Councilor Jose Zalsos criticized the recent State of Iligan City Address (Soica) delivered by Mayor Frederick W. Siao, describing it as “jammed” and unclear in parts.
Speaking on a local radio station over the weekend, Zalsos said he attended the address held on August 1 at the city public plaza, noting that the speech was unusually lengthy, allegedly to accommodate the arrival of Congresswoman Camille Villar, who is expected to run for senator in next year’s elections.
Zalsos acknowledged the presence of all city officials, including opposition members, but raised concerns about the clarity of the mayor’s statements.
The address covered topics such as water and garbage issues, with Mayor Siao outlining both short-term and long-term solutions.
Siao also highlighted the city’s recent achievements, including its rise in rankings among highly urbanized cities and the receipt of the “Seal of Good Financial Housekeeping” from the national government.
