THE damage to infrastructure, fisheries, and crops caused by the strong waves and floods on December 24 and 25, last year in Gingoog City has reached P151,364,050 as of January 3
Marlon Pajo head of the City Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office confirmed to Gold Star Daily saying that this figure is based on the assessment of the Office of City Agriculture and the City Engineering Office.
The biggest damage to the city is the infrastructure with P81 million which includes the collapse of a bridge, spillway flood control dike, sea wall, and roads, Pajo added.
He said the next highest damage are crops amounting to P49,724,200 and then fisheries with P20,639,850 estimated cost.
The worth of damage of the 182 totally destroyed and 1,109 partially destroyed houses are still undetermined.
Meanwhile, the Art Relief Mobile Kitchen, in partnership with the Balay Mindanao of Gingoog City has served food to flood survivors in affected barangays of the city, Pajo said.
He said the Art Relief Mobile Kitchen, based in Manila, arrived in Gingoog City on December 30 to serve hot meals. The group started their mission on December 31 in Sitio Minlagas in Barangay San Luis, Gingoog City.
The group has their own supplies of rice, canned food, and meat to cook to feed the victims Pajo said.
Pajo added that the group has already served hot meals in the barangays of Daan Lungsod, San Luis, and Santiago.
He said the city government, through Mayor Erick Cañosa, provided vehicles for the mobilization of the group.
Gingoog has a total of 9,916 or about 40,7570 individuals affected families, with two confirmed dead.
The most affected barangays in the city were barangays 18 A, 19, Lunao, and all of the coastal areas of the city.
