ELEVEN houses were razed to the ground in an afternoon fire in Medina town yesterday.
F/Senior Insp. Clement A. Talines, the municipal fire marshal said the fire that occurred in Purok 1, Barangay Maanas started at 2:20 pm and it took them at least 30 minutes to control.
According to Glory Vosotros, Municipal Social Work and Development head, the fire affected about 15 families or 62 individuals that included 27 children with ages ranging from eight months to 16 years old.
Vosotros added that three people were injured including 63-year-old Oscar Sabacahan. She said they are currently being treated at Medina Hospital.
Talines pegged the damage at about P700 thousand.
All burned houses were made of light materials, he added
Mayor Donato Chan was seen to have personally assisted the fire survivors said Barangay Kagawad Metus Abanil Marte.
He then ordered the local social work and development to provide relief goods and food to the fire victims, Marte.
Initial investigation revealed that the fire allegedly started on the second floor of the residence of a certain Zenaida Dabon, said Talines.
