DESPITE the issuance of EO No. 3 and subsequently EO No. 7 by Malacañang, the wearing of a well-fitted face mask must be a must for everyone. That is if we want to protect ourselves and those near us from the Covid19 virus.
While the virus is still very much around, people have already become complacent in that even in places where face masks are required they either deliberately take masks off or don't bother to use one at all.
The local IATF of Cagayan de Oro has recently passed a resolution recommending to Mayor Klarex Uy the issuance of an executive order reiterating the need to use face masks in closed, crowded, and close-contact places. Of course, this includes indoor venues for any undertaking or activity.
Even commuters inside public utility vehicles (jeepneys, motorelas, taxicabs, buses, etc.) seem to be unmindful of the presence of the Covid19 virus. And this includes drivers.
I have received several complaints citing drivers (and passengers) not wearing face masks while on board public utility vehicles. The Roads and Traffic Administration needs to look into this with dispatch and with consistency until after the virus leaves us for good if it ever does.
Remember, a face mask is still a must.
