ILIGAN City ― “Where are your computations?”
This was the statement of Engr. Jaime Sato yesterday. to another engineer, Damian Ruiz, Jr. when asked by reporters the comment of the latter over the failure of the booster pump installed at Tambacan barangay for the water supply at the said area.
Ruiz had said earlier, that this particular pump did not work out because “the design of the pump is wrong.” Hence, the answer of Sato is to come up with the computations.
It was then learned that this particular pump which comes from a Davao supplier, failed to pump out the water when installed there at said area, a few days ago.
“It does not mean that with such, the design is wrong,” said Sato visibly irked by said remarks, and mentioning “computations.”
Sato, to note is with the Maintenance and Operations section of the Iligan City Waterworks System while Ruiz is with the private sector.
The ICWS, to note is currently headed temporarily by city mayor Frederick Siao after the retirement of its head then, Engr. Josephus Albao, on February 28.
This is pending the appointment of somebody who will head such an office. The said pump, to note costs P15 million and is expected to boost the water supply of said area as the present water supply system in the city might not have been sufficient to include Tambacan and some other areas in the city.
Sato said that in early June, the ICWS will meet regarding the matter together with that supplier from Davao, which he did not name.
To note too, many people in the city are still complaining about the inadequacy of the waters that come into their homes during this Siao administration and even during the past administration of then Mayor Celso G. Regencia.
Other comments on said matter include that the pump may be lacking in an item called ‘impaler’ which people here too could not get what said term means.
