ILIGAN City ― Is this country taken to the slaughter through this mammal called Edca?

The answer could be Yes, Maybe, or No. Or all of the above.

But first, what is this EDCA about? That ruffled some feathers of some political analysts.

The length of this is Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement. This is between this country and America.

This, we learn was made during the time of Pres. P-Noy. Which was signed between the two on April 16, 2014. It is about defending this country from some aggressor, like China.

Under said Edca, America could, among other things, stockpile some weapons in the country. Among these identified locations are Antonio Bautista Air Base in Palawan, Fort Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija, and Lumbia airport in Cagayan de Oro City, Benito Ebuen Airbase in Mactan, Cebu, while the other air bases are in Luzon. ten in all. This is a ten-year agreement, it is reported. Veep Kamala Harris of America recently came to this country. And made it to Palawan, where one of the locations for America's stockpiling of weapons is located. And among other things, she made the necessary noise about this country's defense.

During Pres. Duterte's watch though, it was reported that he didn’t like this one. Because, for one thing, he heard rumors that America was storing some weapons, tips of nuclear weapons, being stored there in some of these locations. Who would be happy with this kind of feedback? And it didn’t help that his leadership was leaning towards China. Whereas other leaders leaned towards America.

The two, whether we like it or not are fighting for world dominance.

So, we can liken this situation to the two playing the game of chess. And we are just “pawns” in this game. If that's the case, who plays white? And who plays black?

At this point, I remember a joke on this matter. That father was introducing a “Bishop Steve”' to his son Raul and the father asked Raul if he was familiar with the bishop. And Raul answered: “Yes, he moves diagonally!”

Anyway, some analysts say, it is not this country of ours that America is defending. It is “their” country. We’re just “pawns,” or some battlefield.

PBBM and many of the country’s top officials do not think so. America is out to defend us. Many don’t agree with that kind of thinking. America, for all its “sweet” words, might have some agenda. That might not necessarily be “hidden.” And I don't think too that Digong is not necessarily wrong in his kind of thinking!

So, with Edca, are we just taken for a ride? Partly? Or entirely? Are we not treading on treacherous waters?

Now, I remember some accounts of World War II when Japan had made surrender “feelers.” And America was of course very delighted. So, they were obliged, to stop the war, of course. What could they do?

But still, they engaged in some last course of action yet. They did not tell the world, especially Japan, that they would drop that nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki

If that’s not treachery, what is?
