THE strict Enhanced Community Quarantine protocols have again been extended in Cagayan de Oro from August 1 to 7 as Covid-19 cases here continue to rise at over 100 a day in the past weeks.

Gingoog City, which has one Delta variant case, was placed under the strictest quarantine protocol from August 1 to August 7.

The province of Misamis Oriental was placed under the General Community Quarantine with heightened restrictions from August 1 to August 15.

President Rodrigo Duterte approved these recommendations by the Covid-19 Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases during a late-night meeting Wednesday night.

The recommendation also placed Iloilo City and the province of Iloilo under the strict ECQ from August 1 to August 15.

Health Secretary Dr. Francisco Duque III said these areas are on the “critical watch list” where the infectious Delta variant could possibly flare-up in the next few days.

In its July 25 report, Octa Research said Cagayan de Oro now averages more than 100 cases of Covid-19 cases a day.

The Cagayan de Oro City Health Office reported last July 27 that there were 135 new Covid-19 cases and active cases rose to 1,517.
