By Ben Serrano BUTUAN City — Opposition United Nationalist Alliance candidates were proclaimed majority winners in Dinagat Islands province and political clan Ecleos who have been ruling the islands for many years now are back in power again except one, former Dinagat Islands Vice Governor and Governor Jade Ecleo losed to re-electionist Rep. Arlene “Kaka” Bag-ao of the Liberal Party. LP’s Rep. Bag-ao of the lone district of Dinagat Islands defeated former Dinagat Islands Vice Governor and Governor Jade Ecleo by narrow margin of votes. But Jade Ecleo’s siblings who sought re-election for different elective positions of the island province of Dinagat won easily in the Ecleo-dominated island. On May 10, provincial election board of canvassers chaired by Dinagat Islands provincial election supervisor Atty. Geraldine Samson proclaimed re-electionist and uncontested Governor Glenda Ecleo as Governor-elect and her son re-electionist Vice Governor Benglen Ecleo. Proclaimed winners for provincial board members of Dinagat Islands were;  Nilo Demerey Jr.. II (UNA); Romen Vargas (LP); Wenefredo Olofernes (IND); Antonio Ensoy (UNA); Amor Alcaria (UNA); Joslyn Ecleo (UNA);  Noli Abis (LP) and  Jess Paul Ecleo (UNA). Proclaimed winner Mayors of some towns of Dinagat islands and some proclaimed municipal councilor winners are members of the Ecleo clan. (ben serrano)
