THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH-10) on Tuesday, Oct. 7, turned over a P160-million flood control project in Zone Camarahan, Barangay Pagatpat.

DPWH-10 Project Engineer Luke Regil Hebron said the structure was designed to withstand a magnitude seven to eight earthquake and features a walkway and railings for residents’ use.

“Transparent kaayo ta sa atong mga projects when it comes information, daghan tag portals to make to verify and check kung unsa ba gyud na katinuod ang mga balita, wala tay ghost project diri sa Region 10,” Hebron said.

Hebron added that flood control projects are essential for low-lying areas, particularly communities near riverbanks that are prone to flooding.

“Kanang flood control mao gyud na atong solusyon to mitigate flooding,” he said.

First District Rep. Lordan Suan also expressed confidence in the turnover, assuring the public that the project was fully implemented and cleared by DPWH-10, the Office of the President, the National Economic and Development Authority, and other oversight agencies.

“Wala tay ghost project diri sa atong distrito,” Suan said.

Suan added that accountability remains key in addressing controversies surrounding flood control projects.

“Hinaot kung ma plastar na ni tanan, makasuhan ang dapat makasuha, ma priso ang angay prisohon, mabalik na to dayon ang atong flood control projects,” he said.
