ILIGAN City ― VP Sara sometimes makes a good copy in terms of words. Meaning, that some words that come out of her mouth create an impact. So when she talked then, a few months ago of some "tambaloslos" several people had to sit up to analyze the meaning of such a word. Or whom she was referring to.
This is a Bisaya word, for I heard this as a kid in Southern Leyte. Well, maybe this is a Mindanaoan word too. Because why did she say that?
I have interpreted that to mean not a good word. As I understood it then, it's a mythical creature something allied with "wakwak" or "ungo." When it laughs, the mouth becomes bigger and bigger and when you are around, it swallows you alive.
She did not identify then who this "tambaloslos" was, but some people guessed that it was House Speaker Martin Romualdez. Because, for one, her confidential funds and intelligence funds as VP and for the DepEd then was brought to attention.
She didn't like it. After all, she had that much when she was mayor. So, why question it?
I sort of think that that was the beginning of the cracks of the so-called: "Unity Team." Between her and PBBM
Now her words are more "impactful." Because she had spoken some words again that went as far as stunning many people. Because, in the wake of her resignation as DepEd Secretary which is very "meaningful", she has said that she will not attend the SONA, starring PBBM come July 22. Along with her non-attendance, were the words of her as she is the: "Designated Survivor."
The words took some people by storm. To the extent that I heard someone say: "Unsa, makapatay na diay ang SONA?" Disturbing words, that.
There was a hollow laugh that I heard from the speaker. Yet, this is no laughing matter!
And then, on air, I heard someone talking about some matter of who will take over if something happens to the President of this nation. It is the VP, of course. Then next in line is the Senate President. And then, it's the Speaker. After that, it's the Supreme Court Chief Justice.
Relative to this, I remember that in America, after the Vice President, it is the Speaker of the House.
I remember too that the dictator the father of PBBM and his wife Imelda did not travel at the same time. Of course, for obvious reasons.
Another "impactful" word was what PBBM said in one of his speeches. This is relative to what is currently happening in the West Philippine Sea. He speaks of ''war" if there is one Pinoy that gets killed in the watery skirmishes in that area. Whereby, it was reported that because of a Coast Guard vessel in the disputed area, several CGs were hurt and one even had a finger cut off!
This event brought out a joke saying: "What's the difference between a security guard and a coast guard? Answer: The difference is that a security guard fights back while the coast guard does not fight back even if the aggressor bumps the vessel and even cuts some finger.!"
Again, this is no laughing matter.
And there too is that perception that the action of PBBM is just being "dictated" by Uncle Sam. Because the US is going to push this country to the brink of war if not outright war with China. With this nation becoming another Ukraine. Becoming the "Ukraine" of Southeast Asia and PBBM becoming the "Zelenskay" of this part of the world. Compliments of Uncle Sam.
Oh, but excuse me. There is now showing on Netflix some film for a series called "Designated Survivor."
