ILIGAN City ― In a statement to reporters yesterday, the Department of Interior and Local Government here denied that there was an “election” held by the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation as to who would sit as the sectoral representative to the Sangguniang Panlungsod in the wake of the present sectoral representative’s win as a regular member of the city’s legislative branch.
City Director of DILG Edward Bhagwani said that per his knowledge on the matter, it was “not an election” but a “petition” to the Sangguniang Panlungsod as there is a “loss of confidence” toward the vice president of the SK here.
Per national law on the matter, it is the vice president of the said body that would assume as the sectoral representative to the city SP here.
To recall, candidate for councilor Nhicole Capangpangan, then the SK sectoral representative, won as councilor in the recent elections thus making the seat which she then held vacant.
No SK president of the city’s 44 barangays was available for comment on the matter.
