By Ben Serrano, Correspondent LIBERTAD, BUTUAN City — Talking to police here Thursday, President Rodrigo Duterte again insisted Senator Leila de Lima’s alleged involvement in the illegal drugs trade inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP). Duterte was in town to give awards to officials and units of the Police Regional Office 13 in the intensified anti-illegal drugs campaign in the region. “Meron tayong mga opisyal pati na si Leni (Vice President Robredo) (saying) we will lose daw foreign aids because of this war against drugs. Wag na tayong magbolahan pa, de Lima was financed by drug money. Pati na yung nasa loob kinabit niya. [Expletive] pati sa loob ng Bilibid ginagawa ang droga. Marami tayong mga opisyal about 4.000 to 5,000 barangay (chairpersons), mga pulis, wag kayo magalit. Andito yung listahan,” Duterte said in his speech. The President called on all Filipinos to sacrifice if the country loses foreign aid because of his administration’s war on illegal drugs. “You know mamili kayo the crumbs of the favor nang ibang nasyon mag-asa lang tayo sa assistance o sumuko tayo sa kumpanya sa laban against illegal drugs that threatens our children and the future of the Filipinos?” said Duterte. He enjoined the public to continue supporting the war against illegal drugs. “Ganito yan, eh. My campaign or our campaign or the Republic of the Philippines’ campaign against illegal drugs, the drug problem actually has taken all kinds of flak from the international scene down to local. Alam mo, it is never wrong for me as Mayor to say get out of my city if you are doing drugs or other crimes kidnapping because if you don’t, I will kill you. It is never wrong for a President to say that,” Duterte said. He explained there is no criminal liability in wanting to protect the future of the country. “I would like to just give an advice to all local and international human rights shouting now. I said you can to go to hell because it is never, never wrong for the President and the police and the military to protect its citizens. It is self preservation not only for us if our lives are taken by the criminal syndicates or if you want to be like Escobar and the Latin American countries who are failed states right now because of the drug menace,” said Duterte.
