A 38-year-old private firm employee was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm, and driving a motorcycle without legal documents.

Bukidnon Provincial Police Director Jun Mark Lagare identified the suspect as Jonard Tecson, Davao Agricultural Venture Corporation (Davco) employee and a resident of Zone 10, Quezon, of the said province.

Tecson was arrested by personnel of Bukidnon 2nd Police Mobile Force Company (PMFC) led by Police Lt. Angelo Roldan under the supervision of Police Lt. Randy Anito, at the established Commission on Elections checkpoint located at Barangay Camp 1, Maramag last Monday at 6:45 pm.

Police flagged down the suspect who was that time riding a motorcycle.

When frisked, authorities found in his possession a .38 “paltik” revolver with live bullets in it. His driven motorcycle had no plate number.

When asked regarding the unit’s pertinent papers, Tecson admitted it has no Official receipt and Certificate of Registration from the Land Transportation Office.

The suspect, who is now under custody at Maramag municipal police station, will be facing cases of illegal possession of firearms and Violation of the Omnibus Election Code in a Comelec Checkpoint.

Lagare expressed his compliment to the responding police personnel for the relentless campaign on the rules and regulations on the ban on the unauthorized carrying of firearms and deadly weapons outside residences this election period.

He also added that his men will continue in its campaign in decreasing the probability of violence in the coming national and local elections for the attainment of a safer and peaceful Bukidnon.
