DIGOS City ― A fish vendor suspected of selling illegal drugs fell into the hands of the authorities following a buy-bust operation that took place in Barangay Talomo, Davao City.
Major Nelson Violan, Jr., Marilog Police Station chief identified the suspect as Randy Ostimbaste Jumarito, 50, widower, driver/fish vendor, and a resident of Center Beach, Purok-7, Barangay Talomo, Davao City.
Violan said the successful arrest of Jumarito was due to a tip-off from their reliable confidential informant (RCI) about his illicit trade of selling prohibited drugs in Barangay Tamugan, Marilog District, Davao City.
Upon receiving the tip, a Special Drug Enforcement Unit team led by Captain Ruel Dionela immediately launched a sting operation to catch the suspect.
The unit assigned Patrolman Marco Philip Diao as a poseur-buyer to conduct a test buy using a marked ₱500 bill. They also included two pieces of counterfeit P1,000 and another P500 bill.
Violan reported that Jumarito even transferred the venue of the transaction to Barangay Talomo, instead of Tamugan.
The operatives just ride on a change of mind and proceeded to Barangay Talomo after informing the PDEA-11 about their mission in Davao City proper.
The team captured Jumarito at approximately 9:20 p.m. Monday and transported him to the police station before midnight.
Operatives seized suspected shabu from Jumarito and recovered the marked money from his pocket.
The police estimated the seized drugs at P5,920 based on their market value.
He is currently under the custody of the Marilog police district while waiting for the documents for the filing of appropriate charges against the suspect.
