FOR violating the Commission on Elections gun ban, a watchman is now languishing in jail after members of the Cagayan de Oro Police Office seized a .38 caliber revolver from his possession.
City Police Director Aaron Mandia identified the suspect as Reymon Balos, 29, connected at one of the construction sites located at Little Cebu, Barangay Lapasan, this city.
He was arrested by Agora police led by Police Captain Ernesto Sanchez at exactly 7:30 pm, last Saturday.
Taken from Balos’ possession was a paltik .38 caliber loaded with six live bullets.
Sanchez said that prior to the arrest his office received a call informing his men that a certain person under the influence of intoxicating liquor was seen standing near a store with something tucked to his waist.
Immediately, responding policemen proceeded to the area and arrested Balos.
There was a brief scuffle between the suspect and the arresting officer until the former was overpowered.
Upon verification, it was learned that the said handgun had no pertinent documents.
Mandia said Balos will be charged with illegal possession of firearms and for violating Comelec’s gun ban.
The suspect is now under custody at Police Station 3 in Agora, Lapasan.
Mandia lauded the arresting team for the immediate arrest of the said suspect. He reminded that the Comelec gun ban is now already implemented as the National Election period has already started.
