INDEED, policemen save lives. This was proven when several law enforcers in Misamis Oriental voluntarily gave bags of blood intended for the vehicular accident victims.
Police Lt. Col. Mardy Hortillosa ll, 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) commander led his team in donating 15 bags of blood to help the survivors of the vehicular mishap that happened on Wednesday.
Hortillosa said it is just very easy for their unit to gather blood donor volunteers as it has a program dubbed as “Dugong PMFC Misor: Dugo Ko, Sumpay sa Kinabuhi Mo.”
Hortillosa said that while he was conducting his walking activity, he received a call from the Regional Community Affairs Development Division asking for blood donors intended for the survivors of the Balingasag vehicular accident.
“Immediately I ended my physical fitness activity just to direct my men to voluntarily donate blood for the said purpose. All the victims were confined at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center,” Hortillosa said.
He added that he is hoping that the program will be sustained and can serve more emergency cases that need a blood transfusion.
“We conceptualized this program because we know how stressful to find a blood donor for an emergency situation,” Hortillosa said.
He is also encouraging the public to never hesitate to volunteer in donating their blood for fellow brothers and sisters who need it badly.
