PEDAL power reigned again. This time Cagayan de Oro City bikers heeded the call to ride for a cause to help police officers in need of a helping hand.

The Police Regional Office 10 partnered with bike club Attack CDO for “Pagduyog sa Kasakit: Bike for a Cause” on March 18 at 6 am. This is the second year this activity has been held, with the first in 2022.

“This is an initiative of PRO-10 to help those pulis (regular) nasakit, nahospital, ug need og financial assistance. Ga augment ta,” PCol. Henry G. Dampal, Chief Regional Community Affairs, and Development Division said.

“We partnered with Attack CDO under sa Malasakit Program of PRO-10.”

Braving inclement weather as they set forth, 164 bikers participated in the event, with the route taking them from the starting point in Camp 1Lt Vicente G. Alagar to downtown, the west diversion road, the coastal road, and the back to the camp.

A raffle was held at the end of the ride, with the grand prize a Gomax 29er alloy mountain trail bike. This caused a flurry of excitement as there were four successive winners called, but was not in attendance and was disqualified. It was finally won by PCpl. Francis Vallar, assigned to the Balingasag Municipal Police Station.

Other prizes were bicycle helmets, gloves, tactical flashlights, Bluetooth speaker and headset, a belt bag, and an aqua flask tumbler.
