A JOINT buy-bust operation by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-10, Gingoog City Police Office arrested a Police Staff Sergeant and a woman at about 11:45 pm, yesterday in Purok 1, Barangay 24 in Gingoog City.
The city’s newly-minted chief P/Lt. Col. Cecilio Q. Orcullo identified the suspects as PSSgt Kenneth Lofranco Lumbay alias ‘Kenlops’ and Divina B. Delima.
The suspects were arrested for violating Article II, Sections 5 and 11 of the Republic Act 9165 known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Act of 2002, said Orcullo
Police Regional Office-10 Director P/Brigadier Gen. Lawrence B.Coop said they will not give the police officer special treatment.
“Hindi kinokonsinte ang iligal na gawain na nagawa ng isa nating kapulisan. Kaya hinihiling namin ang patuloy na suporta ng publiko sa aming kampanya laban sa iligal na droga upang ating makamit ang drug-free community. Kaya tulong- tulong po tayo,” Coop’s statement reads in part.
Orcullo said the operatives confiscated seven pieces of heat-sealed transparent sachets of different sizes containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, weighing more or less 10 grams from the suspects.
He added the authorities also seized two smartphones, one blue pouch, one 9mm pistol (Pietro Berreta), one firearm magazine with bullets, one black leather wallet with several pieces of identification cards, and six P1,000 bills bearing serial number FD936148 used as buy-bust money.
According to P/Major Joan Navarro, PNP 10 spokesperson, SSgt. Lumbay used to be assigned to Gingoog Police Station.
At the time of Lumbay’s arrest, he is assigned to the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit of the PRO-10 since November 8, this year, Navarro added.
While the female suspect is a job order worker of the City Veterinary Office of Gingoog since August of this year up to the present, as confirmed by City Veterinarian Dr. Al Gonzales.
