DIGOS City ― A 44-year-old construction worker died on the spot after he was shot at close range by still unidentified man along Lapu-Lapu Extension-Aquino Road, Barangay San Miguel, this city on the evening of April 28, a police report reads.
Lt. Colonel Hamlet Lerios, Digos City police chief, identified the victim as Summy Lapaz Udang, a construction worker, and a resident of Purok Narra, Odaca Barangay San Miguel, Digos City.
When responding Digos City police operatives arrived at the crime scene, Udang was already lifeless with blood oozing from the gunshot wound to the forehead.

Investigators were told, Udang was onboard a motorcycle and stopped in front of Kerokek’s Lechon Manok and Liempo Hauz, apparently to buy some food.
However, minutes later a man wearing a black jacket with an inner blue t-shirt suddenly appeared in the area wherein witnesses recalled hearing a verbal tussle between the duo, until the man pulled a handgun and shot Udang in the forehead which instantly killed the victim.
Captain Jeofrey Benjie Bueno from Davao del Sur Forensic Unit failed to find any spent shells at the place of the incident that could be subjected to ballistic examinations.
Lerios said they are conducting an intensive investigation as to the identity of the gunman and the possible motive behind the shooting of Udang.
