ILIGAN City ― A company at a barangay here had advised that a major road there would be closed effective July 1, thus alarming people living in the area.
Kagawad Robert Palomares of Barangay Luinab here yesterday told reporters that the Green Gold Gourmet Foods Corporation that advised said closure is doing so effective July 1.
It was learned this road is being used by the residents there in going into and outside the barangay.
He said that the barangay had been made aware of such a move for months now as Atty Rendo Stuart del Rosario of the said company “has the title” for the said area and they are “alarmed” by this development as there is “no other way” by which they can go in and out of Luinab, this city.
He added that the barangay officials here led by its chairman Ocana had already sought help from the local government unit here under Mayor Celso Regencia but there was “no action” on the matter, he claimed.
Asked about the area of the said road, he could not tell although the company is giving them a value of P20 million hinting that for the said amount closure of said road would not be pushed through.
One time, Palomares said, when they had talked about the matter with city administrator Leony Roy Ga, the latter just said that “let them close the road and we will dismantle it.”
The kagawad, though, said he is hoping that the incoming administration of mayor-elect Frederick Siao can do something about the matter although they are still very much concerned about it, he said as July 1 is fast approaching which is the date of closure per the advice of the company and this is also the date of which the new administration of Siao is to take over.
