IN less than 24 hours, police personnel of Cagayan de Oro was able to arrest the self-confessed killer of a 13-year-old gangbanger yesterday morning.
Police Col. Aaron Mandia, Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) Director, identified the suspect as Raul Lumamba, alias ‘Bagi,’ 18, and a resident of 2B, Barangay Gusa.
Three of his companions during the stabbing incident are now under the custody of the Cogon police for questioning.
Police Major Julius Saluta, Police Station 2 commander said, he and his men together with other units arrested the suspect at Phase 2, Villa Ernesto, Barangay Gusa at 12 noon.
“Amo pa ning susihon og ayo kung unsay participation aning mga kauban sa suspect aron ma file namo ang ensaktong kaso,” Saluta said.
In an interview with the media, Lumamba said he stabbed the victim as an act of revenge.
“Gibunalan man gud niya og botelya akong usa ka amigo sa ulo, mao tong amo siyang gilakag,” Lumamba said.
It was also learned that the suspect is an active member of ‘SSD gang’ or Soy Shet Deym.
To recall, prior to the incident a group of teenagers, a long chase occurred between Lumamba’s group and of the victims from Gaston park.
But reaching Corrales Avenue near Centrio Mall the suspects had caught up with the victim and after cornering the latter, the suspect stabbed him several times in the neck resulting in his sudden death.
After the incident, Lumamba said, he proceeded to the house of his friend in Barangay Macabalan.
“Gikan didto miadto ko sa balay sa akong uyab para magpahibalo nga mo surender nako,” Lumamba said.
But just before he gave himself up, the police arrived and arrested him.
Saluta said the suspect will be facing a murder case.
