TWO individuals have been arrested in separate anti-illegal gambling operations conducted by the Cagayan de Oro City Police (Cocpo) since last week.

The arrests are part of a campaign against illegal ‘Swertres’ or ‘Wirik-wirik’ games.

On August 7, Jerson Recta, 23, was arrested in Purok 6, Barangay Puerto. Police Station 6 personnel, led by Police Major Amanollah Bantuas Jr., caught Recta allegedly accommodating bettors without authority from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

Police confiscated P155 in bet money and illegal gambling paraphernalia from him.

In a separate operation on August 12, Jose Miranda, 40, was arrested in Zone 8 Seaside, Barangay Bulua. Police Station 7 personnel, led by Police Major Dennis Rowell Flores, confiscated P250 in bet money and other illegal gambling paraphernalia, including pens and paper stubs.
