IN commemoration of Earth Day 2022, the City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (Clenro) conducted a mangrove tree-planting activity on Saturday at Punta, Barangay Bonbon, this city.

Answering the call for volunteers, members of the Youth for Climate Justice-CdeO (Y4CJ) participated en masse in the event. The Y4CJ is an affiliated youth arm of the Philippine Movement for Climate Justice.

Mapasalamaton kita sa pagtabang sa PMCJ, especially sa pag raise sa awareness,” Clenro Chief Engr. Armen Cuenca said.

Clenro provided the seedlings to the Y4CJ-CdeO members and also had facilitators on-site to give a briefing on the proper way to plant the mangrove seedlings, as well as personnel to accompany them and supervise the planting.

“We are grateful to Clenro for allowing us the privilege of helping combat climate change by way of planting mangrove seedlings,” Lenin Amidala Corrales, Y4CJ- CdeO secretary, said.

“We hope to do this again so we will be able to plant more,” she added.

The Y4CJ-CdeO was established in 2021 to actively engage the youth in education, information dissemination, and action in combating global climate change.
