ILIGAN City ― All classes in Iligan City will be suspended on Friday, September 27, to accommodate the Kasadya Street Dancing festival, according to Police Maj. Zandrex Panolong, spokesperson for the Iligan City Police Office.
The city-wide event, which will draw participants from within and outside the city, requires extensive traffic management starting early in the morning, prompting the suspension of both classes and government office operations, as the day has been declared a local holiday by Mayor Frederick Siao.
Panolong urged parents and guardians to avoid bringing small children to the event.
However, if they do, he advised placing identification details, such as names, addresses, and contact numbers, in the children’s pockets to ensure a swift reunion in case of separation.
He also reminded attendees not to wear hats, backpacks, or jackets, and noted that mobile signals would be jammed during the event.
The festivities will continue into the evening with the crowning of Miss Iligan Universe.
Iligan City’s annual fiesta, in honor of its patron saint, St. Michael the Archangel, features month-long activities, including a Dragon Boat contest, Silent Drill, Comedia San Miguel, and the Pagpakanaug ritual.
The fiesta day itself falls on Sunday, September 29, with the following Monday also declared a local holiday.
