THE bounty on the heads of suspected hired killers who claimed the lives of Congressman Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy’s eldest son Roland Sherwin ‘Tawee’ and their caretaker has now reached a staggering P5 million.
This, after the Uys’ family recently announced an additional P1 million from the same amount they pledged earlier to go along with the P2 million from Mayor Oscar Moreno and the city government of Cagayan de Oro plus P1 million from the business sector.
The cash reward, the confidants of the victim’s family, said would make it possible to speed up the arrest of the perpetrators and the “masterminds” behind the treacherous attack.
City councilors Romeo Calizo and Eric Salcedo, in recent separate interviews over Magnum Radio, also revealed the “peso-peso” campaign drive of barangay Carmen where Tawee Uy was an incumbent Kagawad.
The peso-peso, they said, had been initiated for the resolution of speedy justice.
They also castigated fellow councilor Zaldy Ocon for putting the Uys in the bad light, supposedly implicating them in Duterte’s list of alleged narco-politicians in the region.
“Walay pruweba dili kana tinuod iyang allegation,” Calizo said of Ocon, who remains active in his usual acerbic broadcast commentaries.
“Dako kanang bakak kay among gipaabot sa PDEA aron masuta og didto sa ilang local ug national nga listahan walay makita nga nalambigit ang mga Uys nga involved sa drugs sindicate,” said Salcedo.
‘Tawee’, 45, and their caretaker Samuel Pabalan, 73 were murdered in their family-owned quarry site in Barangay Pagatpat, Cagayan de Oro on November 11.
The still-unidentified riding-in-tandem reportedly pumped a total of nine bullets from 45 calibers into the victims before speeding away in a motorcycle.
“The brutal, cruel, senseless, and utterly barbaric killings must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. The perpetrators ― together with the brains ― must be held to account for these dastardly acts,” said Moreno when he came up with the city’s own P2-million reward.
