Gingoog City — City Mayor Erick Cañosa has strongly condemned the killing of the barangay councilor of Barangay San Luis, this city, who was shot to death by still unknown assailants on Monday morning near the barangay hall here.

The victim identified as Alexander Mandamiento, 47, married, and a resident of Purok Quezon A, San Luis, this city.
Mandamiento, a three-termer barangay chairman who served as barangay councilor of San Luis, succumbed with a gun shot to his head, said Cañosa.
Cañosa said has ordered the city police for a swift investigation on the shooting incident.
Witnesses said Mandamiento was coming from the barangay hall, attending a regular session a few minutes, before he was shot.
After the shooting, the suspect fled on board a yellow motorcycle without a plate number going towards Cagayan de Oro City.
Mandamiento was rush to the Lipunan Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
A preliminary police investigation revealed the suspect was male, wearing a gray t-shirt, black pants, black cap, and a green handkerchief to cover his face while the other male suspect was wearing a black helmet.
Police are currently conducting manhunt operations.
Cañosa enjoined resident to give information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
The motive of the incident has still to be determined as of this writing.
