Bukidnon is invading the milk tea scene in Cagayan de Oro!

Yesterday’s opening of a home-grown milk tea shop from Bukidnon was both simple yet meaningful, surrounded by only its employees and owners during the blessing of Chang Tea’s 4th branch in the City of Golden Friendship.

Chang Tea has been a well-known brand in Bukidnon and now it has arrived in Cagayan de Oro to bring in more flavor to the milk tea scene of an already vibrant culture here in this city.

From Left: Chang Tea founder, Raciel Amor Pastor, and Chang Tea CDO proprietor and business partner Angelyn Pastor Duran during the ceremonial ribbon cutting.

What makes this milk tea awesome? Well, it’s milk tea itself. This particular shop imports real tea leaves from Taiwan – just o produce that unique flavor, where you could only find at Chang Tea. Raciel Amor Pastor Proprietor of the Chang Tea brand itself has been a milk tea lover since her college days. She has made it a personal mission on how her milk tea would taste like on all her three branches – Particularly in this city.

“Our ingredients are imported from Taiwan, dili me powder-based na milk tea shop. We brew our products, para ma-ensure namo ang quality,” Pastor said.

In complete trust, Angelyn Pastor Duran decided to partner-up with Raciel and bring that “Bukidnon” flavor to CDO through the opening of its 4th branch here in Cagayan de Oro located at Metro Food Park.

And the best part is, theey have set things up without you needing to visit their store as they are now ready to serve you, through your favorite deliver apps such as foodpanda and maxim.

With the ongoing pandemic, it is important for an establishment to maintain the health protocols set forth by the government (IATF). Change Tea has abided by those standard and has provided dine in and pick-up orders with temperature checkers, air purifiers, alcohol, footbaths to ensure that their area is clean and sanitize. Aside from the following they are stressing strict guidelines for their employees to always wear a facemask while preparing its products.

With that in mind, the owners are also encouraging their employees to get vaccinated as well as promoting promos for vaccinated individuals through discounts by providing your vaccination cards. On top of these there is a limited-time promo also that provides frontliners discounts if they visit the store by and present their Professional Identification Card to validate that they are frontliners.

“A family member that is also a frontliner donated a sum of money (who wish to be anonymous) has bought over a hundred of milk tea for frontliners. Aside sa discount na amoa mahatag, kaning first 100 ka frontliners would get it for free. Because nabayaran na,” Pastor said.

Blessing of Chang Tea

“We invite everyone to come and taste our products, especially those millennials that we are affordable and for the masses ang amoang prices,” Said Duran.

“Ako brother is a doctor, Next week siya nag sponsor (promo). For him, ipa-present lang ug PRC ID na frontliners sila , more than 167 cups iya na palit ug ma libre ang mga frontliners ug milk tea,” Duran disclosed.

The inspiring part of this venture isn’t about the opening, and it is not about them (owners). Simply because any entrepreneurs nowadays are faced with uncertainties in creating a business that could help people earn a living and earn for themselves and yet push forward.

At this stage of the pandemic any business such as Chang Tea that creates opportunities for others is worth patronizing. We should all continue to support local investors regardless of where they originated from as they create job opportunities for others.

“For us even if it’s pandemic we would like to explore things. Because we believe the pandemic is somehow negative, we know we can create something positive about it,” Duran said.
