MEDINA, Misamis Oriental — A total of 196 learners, including 11 girls, from various schools in the eastern part of Misamis Oriental and Claveria participated in a three-day Patrol and Crew Leadership Training Course held at the Medina National Comprehensive High School campus from August 15 to 17.

The training was confirmed by Eric John Lapulapu, Scouting Deputy Commissioner for the Training Team and Scouts of the World Award for the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) Misamis Oriental Council.

Lapulapu said the Patrol Leadership Training Course was for elementary students, while the Crew Training Course was for high school students.

The event was initiated and hosted by the BSP Medina North Eastern District Council with support from the BSP Misamis Oriental Council, chaired by former Vice Gov. Jose Ma. Pelaez.

Nilda M. Mejos, public schools district supervisor for the Department of Education’s Medina District, thanked stakeholders, including Mayor Marianne Chan and Vice Mayor Paulo Magallanes, for their support.

She also commended the BSP Medina North Eastern District Council and school principal Dr. Abdon R. Bacayana for hosting the event.

Pelaez congratulated the participants via phone call, encouraging other students to join future BSP activities.

Provincial Board Member and former BSP MisOr Council Chairman Rommel Maslog also congratulated the group through a messenger call, saying such training helps in preventing drug addiction and early pregnancy among young people.
