ILIGAN City ― The supposed improvised explosive device found in an RTW store in Gaisano Mall here was a dud, this city’s chief of police announced this morning.

City Police Chief Col. Reinante delos Santos made the pronouncement in the wake of the reported bomb threat yesterday at around 9 am.

Delos Santos told reporters this thing was placed inside a backpack and could not explode as it lacked the necessary components to make it explode.

“There was no power source,” he said, “no blasting cap, and all the other components, and it was meant to just instill fear among the people here.”

Police Major Felix Rabago, of Station 5 here, said that they already have the footage of the closed-circuit television and they are in the process of making an official report on the matter.

City mayor Frederick Siao on his part was very thankful to the personnel of the prompt action of the Explosive Ordnance Division for the quick action on the matter.
