NINETEEN hours after the clock sounded for a new year, a resident of Misamis Oriental was rushed to the hospital where he died upon arrival.
Genesis Branzuela, 52, a native of Purok Mabini, Lugait town, was not lucky after his driven motorcycle met an accident while maneuvering a slippery road yesterday at 7:30 pm.
Police Cpl. Fel Evan Cespon of Alubijid Municipal station said Branzuela was driving his motorcycle along Purok Gumamela Barangay Lower Talacogon of the said town when suddenly Branzuela appeared to have lost control of his motorcycle.
Cespon said the presence of fragments of stones and soil from the stockpile coming from the canal had caused the said accident.
It was learned that the government’s National Irrigation Authority (NIA) had just constructed a canal along the road where the victim’s motorcycle slid.
The victim was brought to Manticao Provincial Hospital where he was declared dead by an attending physician.
